The College of Law at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a legal workshop on Monday, April 13, 2026, titled “Climate Justice and Human Rights: Towards a Fair Distribution of Environmental Burdens,” delivered by Dr. Thamer Ramadan Amin, at the College of Law Hall – Humanities Building, as part of the activities of the Fourth Al-Mustaqbal International Sustainability Week. The workshop highlighted the concept of climate justice as a modern legal principle linked to human rights, based on the fair distribution of environmental burdens among countries and communities, ensuring that vulnerable groups and developing countries are not disproportionately affected by pollution and climate change impacts. The lecturer addressed the international legal framework of climate justice and the role of environmental agreements and human rights instruments in strengthening this concept, emphasizing the need to develop national legislation in line with international obligations related to environmental protection and climate change mitigation. The workshop also discussed the human rights dimension of climate justice, particularly its connection to the right to a healthy environment, the right to health, and sustainable development, while stressing the role of legislative institutions in integrating these concepts into national policies and laws. It concluded by emphasizing the importance of enhancing legal and environmental awareness among different segments of society and supporting scientific research in environmental law and human rights to achieve a balance between development and environmental protection.
