The Biomedical Engineering Department organized a series of specialized scientific workshops aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical curricula and the latest technologies used in hospitals and research centers, under the direct supervision of Assistant Lecturer Maher Rahim. About the workshops and activities: This series covered precise technical and medical topics designed to enhance students' proficiency in working with complex medical systems. Key topics included: • Computed Tomography (CT) Scan Techniques: Explaining data acquisition mechanisms and clarifying the concept of pitch and its relationship to image quality and scan speed. • Biophysics and Lasers: Reviewing laser modes and their surgical and diagnostic applications. • Engineering Anatomy: Understanding directional terms and the neural processing of the senses as a cornerstone in the design of prosthetic devices. • Psychological Technology: Using virtual reality in the treatment of phobias. Methodology: The department adopted a simulation and interactive analysis approach during these workshops, which included: • Using visual aids and mind maps to simplify physical and engineering concepts. • Analyzing block diagrams and software that manage the operation of modern medical imaging equipment. • Opening in-depth discussions on the technical challenges facing biomedical engineers in laboratory and field work environments. The workshops witnessed remarkable student engagement, reflecting the vibrant academic atmosphere in the department and the students' eagerness to acquire the knowledge and experience that will ensure their success in the medical and engineering job market. Objectives of Scientific Activity: This scientific activity contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, including: • Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being): by preparing engineering professionals capable of managing and developing diagnostic technologies (such as CT) that contribute to the accuracy of healthcare. • Goal 4 (Quality Education): by providing an interactive learning environment that integrates technical aspects and basic sciences according to international standards. • Goal Nine (Industry and Innovation): By encouraging students to understand advanced technologies to develop software and engineering solutions that serve the medical sector.
