Among the scientific and research achievements added to the accomplishments of the Biomedical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Future University, is the publication of a research paper by faculty member, Mr. Alaa Mohammed Hussein Wais, entitled "Investigation of Mechanical Behavior in Plasma Nitrided Nickel-Boron-CNT Composite Coatings Using Response Surface Methodology." The paper was published in the Jordan Journal of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (JJMIE), which is indexed in Scopus Q2.
This study investigated the mechanical behavior of nickel-boron composite coatings reinforced with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and treated with plasma nitriding using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The focus was on improving the hardness and corrosion resistance of these advanced coatings, which contributes to the development of surfaces for biomedical equipment and precision engineering instruments, increasing their operational lifespan and efficiency under harsh conditions. The study highlights the importance of combining nanotechnology with advanced surface treatments to achieve superior mechanical properties that meet the needs of modern technology.
