Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Roudhan Salman, and under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, Professor Dr. Abdul-Salam Joudat, the department organized an awareness seminar as part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, titled:
“Addiction Between Risk and Prevention: Protecting Generations Is Everyone’s Responsibility.”
The seminar addressed the major health, psychological, and social risks resulting from drug abuse, highlighting the importance of community awareness and the role of educational institutions in protecting students and young people from falling into this scourge. It also reviewed early prevention strategies and ways to promote positive behavior.
The seminar was presented by Lecturer Rusal Dhafer Dohan from the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, who provided a comprehensive explanation of the causes leading to addiction, the most prominent indicators of addiction, as well as intervention and treatment methods. She stressed that cooperation between the family, the educational institution, and the community forms the cornerstone in limiting the spread of drugs.
The event witnessed a distinguished attendance that included department heads, in addition to a number of faculty members and students, which enriched the discussion and encouraged important questions and interventions.
At the end of the seminar, the attendees expressed their gratitude to the organizers of this awareness activity, emphasizing the importance of continuing such events that enhance awareness and strengthen the culture of prevention within the university campus.
