Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, announced that the university has obtained a copyright protection certificate from the National Center for Copyright Protection and Neighboring Rights, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, for the document titled “Intellectual Property Policy at Al-Mustaqbal University.”

With this achievement, Al-Mustaqbal University affirms its position as the first academic institution in Iraq to launch and establish an institutional policy document dedicated to protecting intellectual property.

In his statement to the university’s media office, Dr. Majdi emphasized that this accomplishment represents a historic step in the university’s journey toward leadership and excellence. The policy document was first launched during the Future Week for Sustainability Festival held last April, serving as a pioneering institutional reference that strengthens the culture of creativity and innovation in Iraq.

He pointed out that protecting intellectual property is not merely a legal procedure, but rather a fundamental pillar for building a knowledge-based economy founded on ideas and innovations. Such protection ensures exclusive rights for innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs, enabling them to further develop their work and inventions without fear of infringement or imitation. It also opens new investment and commercial opportunities that grant institutions a competitive advantage in the market, attract partners and investors, and generate additional revenue through licensing or rights transfer. Moreover, it provides a safe environment that fosters research and development, while supporting entrepreneurs in securing the necessary funding for their projects.

Concluding his statement, the President affirmed that Al-Mustaqbal University remains committed to strengthening its pioneering role in empowering innovators and researchers, stressing that this milestone will contribute to instilling the culture of intellectual property as a cornerstone in building a modern Iraq based on knowledge and innovation.

Al-Mustaqbal University ranks first among private universities.
