Al-Mustaqbal University hosted Turkish international evaluator Dr Burak Arikan, appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to conduct an external evaluation visit examining the University’s implementation of the Bologna Process and the extent to which its academic practices align with the standards adopted within the European Higher Education Area. The visit commenced with a specialised workshop, opened with an address on behalf of the University President by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi. He emphasised that the Bologna Process represents a qualitative transformation focused on learning outcomes and student-centred education. He noted that the University is currently implementing the Process in eight colleges: Engineering, Engineering Technologies, Science, Administrative Sciences, Law, Agricultural Technologies, Nursing, and Arts. Its implementation will be expanded during the 2026–2027 academic year to include three additional colleges: Education, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and Fine Arts.
The workshop featured an academic presentation by the international evaluator on the philosophy underpinning the Bologna Process, followed by academic discussions addressing the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), course specifications, assessment methods, and a review of the institutional documents and practices adopted by the University. The discussions aimed to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement and explore ways to enhance the effectiveness of implementing the Process in accordance with European standards, ensuring that academic outcomes are aligned with labour market needs.
