As part of its leading role in serving the community and promoting sustainable development, University of Mustaqbal organized the Fifth Sustainable Cities Forum under the slogan “The University in the Service of Society”, with the participation of distinguished academics, experts, and representatives of governmental and professional institutions. The forum aimed to discuss key urban challenges and explore scientific and technological solutions for building more sustainable cities. The forum featured a specialized scientific workshop addressing the current state of Iraq’s electricity sector and the potential of renewable energy, including the establishment of hybrid energy systems and smart local grids. It also explored opportunities for green investment and supportive legislation to improve the environment and enhance urban quality of life. The forum emphasized the importance of integration between academic institutions and executive authorities in transforming scientific research and ideas into practical solutions that address societal challenges and support the sustainable development of Iraqi cities.
