As part of Al-Mustaqbal University's efforts to enhance scientific knowledge and keep pace with modern technological developments in engineering and environmental fields, the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering organized a scientific workshop entitled "Analyzing Climate Change Indicators Using Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS & RS)" on Monday, November 2, 2026. The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Saif Salam Saud, a faculty member in the department. The workshop addressed the importance of employing Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies in monitoring and analyzing climate change indicators using satellite imagery and spatial data. It highlighted their applications in monitoring temperature variations, analyzing land cover changes, tracking urban expansion, and producing digital maps that contribute to assessing environmental impacts and providing accurate data to support sustainable planning. The workshop also aimed to enhance participants' knowledge of modern geospatial applications and introduce the potential of employing these technologies to analyze climate challenges and monitor their environmental impacts. This contributes to strengthening the role of digital technologies in supporting engineering and environmental studies and facilitating data-driven decision-making. This workshop aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13: Climate Action, by raising awareness of climate change issues, encouraging the use of modern technologies to monitor and analyze its impacts, and contributing to strengthening adaptive capacity to climate-related risks and reducing their environmental consequences.
