As part of its strategic vision to enhance the quality of higher education and strengthen its international academic presence, Future University hosted Dr. E. Burak Arıkan, a Turkish international evaluator appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, today. Dr. Arıkan conducted an external evaluation visit to assess the university's experience in implementing the Bologna Process and the extent to which its academic practices align with the standards adopted in the European higher education system.
The visit took place in the presence of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Vice Presidents, the Director of Academic and Scientific Supervision, deans of faculties, heads of academic departments, quality assurance officers, and a number of academic and administrative leaders.
The visit began with a specialized workshop, opened with a speech delivered on behalf of the University President by Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Academic and Scientific Supervision. In his speech, Professor Al-Zuhairi emphasized that the Bologna Process represents a qualitative shift in university education by focusing on learning outcomes, student-centered learning, skills and competencies development, modernizing teaching and assessment methods, and promoting quality assurance and continuous improvement.
He noted that the university currently implements the Bologna Process in eight colleges: Engineering, Engineering Technologies, Science, Administrative Sciences, Law, Agricultural Technologies, Nursing, and Arts. Its implementation will be expanded during the 2026-2027 academic year to include three additional colleges: Education, Physical Education and Sports Science, and Fine Arts.
The workshop included a presentation by the international evaluator on the philosophy and implementation mechanisms of the Bologna Process. This was followed by academic discussions and evaluation sessions covering the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), course loads, course descriptions, learning outcomes, and assessment methods. Participants also reviewed the university's adopted institutional documents, guidelines, and practices.
The evaluation sessions focused on identifying strengths and areas for improvement, and discussing ways to enhance the efficiency of the process's implementation and ensure its quality according to European standards. This aims to achieve integration between developing academic programs, improving educational outcomes, and aligning them with labor market needs.
This visit reflects Future University's commitment to leveraging international expertise in developing its educational system, fostering a culture of continuous evaluation and improvement, and striving towards a competitive university education based on global quality standards that enhances its academic standing both locally and internationally.
