As part of its commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and modern clinical applications in radiological technologies, the Department of Radiological Technologies highlights the topic “The Role of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Knee Injuries: Diagnosis of Ligament Tears and Meniscal Injuries,” presented by Assist. Lecturer Tareq Nazim Jasim. The presentation explored the advanced diagnostic role of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in evaluating knee joint injuries and identifying pathological changes affecting its anatomical structures. It highlighted the importance of MRI in detecting injuries to the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, collateral ligaments, and medial and lateral menisci. MRI provides detailed visualization of soft tissues without the use of ionizing radiation, making it particularly valuable in musculoskeletal imaging. Furthermore, the presentation discussed the importance of different MRI sequences in assessing knee joint anatomy, identifying the location and extent of injuries, and detecting associated abnormalities that may affect joint stability and mobility. This scientific topic emphasizes the significance of MRI as an essential diagnostic tool in evaluating sports-related and traumatic knee injuries, supporting clinical decision-making, guiding appropriate treatment strategies, and contributing to improved patient outcomes and functional recovery.
