The College of Education at Al-Mustaqbal University, through its Departments of Educational and Psychological Sciences and English Language, holds an educational and awareness seminar entitled “Psychological First Aid and Mechanisms for Crisis Mitigation,” on the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, observed annually on 13 October, as designated by the United Nations. The seminar is delivered by Professor Dr. Sahira Qahtan, Assistant Lecturer Ruqaya Wahab, and Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Obaid Zabbar. The seminar aims to emphasise that the impact of crises and disasters extends beyond material damage and infrastructure to affect the psychological well-being of individuals and communities, which is a key factor in strengthening resilience and the ability to cope with crises and their consequences. The seminar addresses the concept of psychological first aid according to the World Health Organization (WHO), explains the “Look, Listen, Link” approach, and highlights mechanisms for providing psychological support and protection to students of different age groups during crises and disasters. #AlMustaqbal_University_Ranked_First_in_Iraq
