As part of its efforts to promote student and cultural activities, develop intellectual and cognitive abilities, and foster a spirit of positive competition within the university environment, the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a chess championship on Saturday, 27 June 2026, at the Sports Building. The event was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Walaa Louay Al-Falouji, along with several faculty members, in an atmosphere characterized by positive competition and active engagement.
The championship featured an interactive atmosphere that highlighted the importance of intellectual and sporting activities in developing strategic thinking, concentration, and planning skills. It also emphasized the importance of analytical abilities and quick decision-making, contributing to the development of students’ cognitive skills and fostering a spirit of fair competition.
The championship aimed to encourage students and faculty members to participate in sporting and intellectual activities, strengthen communication and positive interaction between the College Deanship, faculty members, and students, and develop patience, discipline, logical thinking, and sportsmanship. These objectives support the development of well-rounded university students who combine academic excellence with strong intellectual and social skills.
The importance of this event lies in its role in providing an interactive university environment that helps relieve academic stress, enhance intellectual abilities, and strengthen interpersonal relationships among members of the university community. It also promotes cooperation, mutual respect, and positive competition, while encouraging students to spend their time engaging in meaningful activities that contribute to personal development and skill enhancement.
This initiative is part of the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to diversify extracurricular activities, support student talents, and achieve a balance between scientific, cultural, and sporting pursuits. These efforts align with the university’s vision of providing a comprehensive university environment that fosters creativity and excellence.
