The guidance activity “The Little Architect and Big Sustainability,” conducted by Lecturer Assistant Mariam Mohammed Musa, aims to raise students’ environmental awareness and introduce them to the concept of sustainability and its importance in designing environmentally friendly buildings and cities. This is achieved by encouraging creative thinking and innovation in designing simple architectural models that promote the conservation of energy and water, make use of natural lighting and ventilation, and incorporate environmentally friendly materials and recycling. The activity also contributes to fostering cooperation and teamwork, developing students’ sense of environmental responsibility, and encouraging them to adopt sustainable ideas that contribute to building a better and more sustainable future. The activity is linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, by encouraging energy efficiency and conservation; Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by promoting sustainable architectural design and the creation of safe, environmentally friendly environments; Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, by encouraging recycling and the efficient use of materials and resources; Goal 13: Climate Action, by raising awareness of the importance of reducing environmental impacts and adopting practices that help address climate change; and Goal 4: Quality Education, by promoting creative learning and developing students’ knowledge and skills related to sustainable development. Overall, the activity seeks to instill the principles of environmental sustainability in students and develop their creative abilities to design environmentally friendly architectural models. It aims to enhance their environmental awareness and encourage them to present sustainable architectural ideas and projects that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and building a more sustainable future for generations to come.
