As part of its ongoing efforts to develop students’ clinical skills and enhance their competence in managing various medical conditions, the College of Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a training workshop entitled **“Wounds and Wound Suturing Skills”** on Monday, 26 October 2026. The workshop was delivered by **Lecturer Dr. Alaa Baqir Rahim** at the College’s Anatomy Laboratories, under the direct supervision of **Prof. Dr. Walaa Louay Al-Falouji, Dean of the College of Medicine**.
The workshop aimed to enhance students’ scientific knowledge and practical skills in wound management by introducing them to the fundamental principles of wound assessment and classification, appropriate medical approaches to wound care, and the essential techniques of wound suturing in accordance with established medical principles and practices. These activities help students bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
The workshop is particularly important in preparing medical students for future clinical practice. Practical training helps develop precision and manual dexterity, build self-confidence, and improve students’ ability to make appropriate clinical decisions when managing injuries. It also emphasizes adherence to sterilization procedures, infection prevention and control measures, and safety standards to ensure the delivery of safe and effective healthcare.
This workshop is part of the College of Medicine’s commitment to adopting practical teaching methods that enhance the quality of medical education and provide an interactive training environment in which students can acquire essential clinical skills. These efforts align with the requirements of modern medical practice and contribute to preparing competent physicians capable of delivering high-quality healthcare services.
