Solar energy is one of the most important renewable energy sources that can be utilized to support the sustainability of healthcare institutions and enhance their operational efficiency. It helps reduce dependence on conventional electricity sources and provides clean energy for hospitals and healthcare centers. Solar power can be used to operate lighting and air-conditioning systems, essential medical devices, laboratory equipment, and sterilization systems, thereby supporting the continuous and reliable delivery of healthcare services. The adoption of solar energy contributes to reducing carbon emissions and lowering long-term operational costs, while also minimizing the environmental impact associated with the consumption of conventional energy sources. Furthermore, solar energy systems can be integrated with battery storage technologies to provide backup electricity during power outages. This is particularly important for healthcare institutions whose medical equipment requires a continuous power supply, especially in emergency and critical care situations. The applications of solar energy extend beyond electricity generation to include water heating and the operation of various electrical systems and equipment. These applications improve resource efficiency and minimize waste. Solar energy systems can also be integrated with smart energy monitoring technologies to track consumption rates, analyze data, identify opportunities for improvement, and enhance overall operational efficiency. The shift toward solar energy in healthcare centers is not merely an environmentally friendly choice; it represents a long-term strategic investment that supports energy independence, strengthens healthcare institutions’ readiness to address power outages, and contributes to improving the quality of medical care. In addition, it reinforces environmental sustainability principles and supports the development of a more efficient healthcare sector capable of addressing future challenges.
