As part of its efforts to promote digital awareness and encourage the safe use of technology, the Department of Cybersecurity Engineering Technologies at the Technical Engineering College, Al-Mustaqbal University, presented an educational awareness feature entitled “Information Security in Our Digital World: Tools, Attacks, and Protection.” The feature addressed major cyber threats facing users in the digital space, including phishing attacks and Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attacks, explaining how they operate and the risks they pose to data confidentiality and information integrity. It also highlighted the importance of network analysis and scanning tools, particularly Wireshark for monitoring and analyzing network traffic, and Nmap for discovering networks, devices, and open ports. These topics contribute to strengthening students’ understanding of information security concepts and developing their skills in identifying digital threats and responding to them with awareness and responsibility. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. It supports the development of a safer and more informed digital environment and reinforces Al-Mustaqbal University’s position as the leading private university in Iraq.
