Zinc alloys are promising metallic biomaterials for modern medical applications due to their biocompatibility and ability to gradually degrade within the human body. These alloys are used in the development of temporary medical implants, such as screws and plates for bone fracture fixation, as well as biodegradable vascular stents. The addition of elements such as magnesium and calcium can improve their mechanical properties and regulate their degradation rate. Zinc alloys represent a promising option in biomedical materials engineering, as they may reduce the need for additional surgical procedures to remove implants after they have fulfilled their therapeutic function.
