Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Al-Mustaqbal, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Rawdan Salman, the college held an awareness lecture on the International Day of Peace on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the College Dean’s Office. The lecture was attended by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Thanaa Bahaa Al-Din Abdullah, and Assistant Lecturer Shadan Shabbar. It aimed to raise awareness of the importance of peace and promote a culture of dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. The lecture addressed the significance of the International Day of Peace, observed by the United Nations on September 21 each year, highlighting the 2026 theme: “Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.” This theme emphasizes that peace is not merely the absence of wars and conflicts; rather, it is an ongoing process that requires collective efforts and meaningful investment by individuals, institutions, and nations. The lecture also discussed the key foundations of peacebuilding, including fostering inclusive communities, supporting sustainable development, protecting human rights and dignity, bridging divisions, and promoting dialogue, negotiation, and diplomacy. It further highlighted the role of individuals and community initiatives in spreading the values of tolerance and cooperation and strengthening social cohesion. The lecture shed light on the challenges facing peace efforts amid ongoing international conflicts and escalating humanitarian crises. It emphasized the importance of concerted international and community efforts to build a safer and more stable future, noting that the responsibility for promoting peace begins within families and educational institutions and extends to society as a whole.
