Al-Mustaqbal University has continued its efforts to defend the rights of persons with disabilities and enhance their opportunities to access equitable and inclusive education. These efforts included a visit by a delegation from the College of Education, represented by Professor Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abdul-Jabbar, a faculty member in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, in cooperation with the Iraqi Women’s National Team in Babil Governorate, to the office of MP Hussein Sahib, a member of the Parliamentary Education Committee. The visit aimed to submit a request for adapting school curricula to suit the abilities and educational needs of students with disabilities.
The visit included calls for developing curricula and teaching methods in ways that accommodate individual differences among students, facilitate their understanding of educational materials, and enable them to continue their educational journeys successfully. This is particularly important in light of plans to establish special classes in schools, providing an appropriate learning environment that responds to their needs.
The delegation emphasized the importance of considering these demands and following up on them with the relevant authorities to ensure equal educational opportunities and support the right of students with disabilities to learn, develop, and integrate into society.
This initiative reaffirms Al-Mustaqbal University’s humanitarian and social role in supporting the rights of persons with disabilities and promoting the principle that education is a right for all. Adapting curricula represents a fundamental step toward achieving a more equitable and inclusive educational system.
