As part of its commitment to promoting awareness of the importance of engineering disciplines and their role in serving society and achieving sustainable development, Assistant Professor Dr. Mayada Waheed Falah, Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, held a conference entitled “Civil Engineering: From Blueprint to Reality.” The conference highlighted the importance of civil engineering in transforming engineering concepts and designs into practical projects that contribute to infrastructure development and improve quality of life.
The conference reviewed the central role of civil engineering in the design and construction of bridges, roads, buildings, and hydraulic structures, in addition to geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, environmental engineering, transportation, and project management. It also highlighted the everyday impact of this discipline in providing safe and sustainable infrastructure and responding to the growing needs of society.
Furthermore, the conference explored the diverse career opportunities available to civil engineering graduates, including engineering design and construction, project management, supervision and quality control, and employment in consultancy offices and public and private sector organizations. It also emphasized the importance of integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience, while developing planning and analytical skills and utilizing modern engineering technologies.
At the conclusion of the conference, the importance of preparing engineers with strong scientific knowledge, practical skills, and the ability to innovate was emphasized. Such competencies contribute to the implementation of high-quality engineering projects and support reconstruction and sustainable development, in line with Al-Mustaqbal University's mission to advance engineering education and align it with the needs of society and the labor market.
