The Industrial College Technologies Department at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Al-Mustaqbal University, continued its theoretical lectures in Metabolism on Monday, October 12, 2026. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Taqa Hazem Abdullah and focused on enzymes, their classification, structure, and mechanisms of action in biochemical reactions.
The lecture covered the main types of enzymes and introduced the protein component (Apoenzyme), cofactors, and coenzymes. It also explained the role of these components in forming the active, complete enzyme (Holoenzyme), as well as the mechanisms through which enzymes interact with substrates and their importance in catalyzing biochemical reactions.
These lectures are part of the department’s efforts to enhance students’ scientific knowledge and strengthen their understanding of the fundamentals of metabolism and biochemical reactions, thereby supporting their academic progress in the field of health and medical technologies. They also contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education.
