As part of the Civil Engineering Department’s commitment to strengthening the practical component of engineering education, the College of Engineering at Al-Mustaqbal University continues to conduct face-to-face practical lectures for students in the Fluid Mechanics Laboratory. These sessions aim to connect theoretical concepts with laboratory applications and develop students’ scientific and practical skills. The practical lecture, delivered by Assistant Lecturer Farah Hameed Abdulkhader, included an experiment on measuring Mass Density and Relative Density (Specific Gravity). Students were introduced to the fundamental concepts of these physical properties of fluids and learned how to determine mass density and calculate relative density by comparing the density of a fluid with the reference density of water, according to the requirements of the experiment. The experiment also provided students with an opportunity to work directly with laboratory equipment, perform measurements, record experimental readings, and analyze the results. This practical experience enhances their understanding of fluid properties and strengthens their ability to connect scientific principles with engineering applications. The continuation of these practical lectures reflects the Civil Engineering Department’s efforts to develop students’ practical competencies, improve the quality of engineering education, and prepare qualified graduates with the theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience required to meet the demands of the engineering profession. These educational activities align with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by supporting practical learning and enhancing the quality of educational outcomes.
