As part of its commitment to keeping pace with technological developments in the medical field, the Intelligent Medical Systems Department at the College of Science, Al-Mustaqbal University, held a scientific workshop entitled “Medical Technology between Innovation, Ethics, and Patient Privacy Protection” on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Abdul Razzaq Hall in the Medical Building. The workshop was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sabah Khudair Obaid from the Department of Computer Engineering Techniques at Imam Al-Kadhim University College for Islamic Sciences. The workshop addressed the relationship between the rapid advancement of medical technology and the ethical considerations associated with its use, highlighting the importance of protecting health data and information and ensuring patient privacy amid the growing digital transformation of the healthcare sector. The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Al-Zuhairi, Scientific Supervisor at Al-Mustaqbal University; Asst. Prof. Dr. Hamza Furat Al-Sultani, Dean of the College of Science; and Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abadi Manea, Head of the Intelligent Medical Systems Department, along with a number of teaching staff and individuals interested in medical technology and artificial intelligence. The workshop emphasized the importance of raising awareness of ethical responsibility when employing modern technologies in healthcare, ensuring that the potential of medical innovation is utilized while safeguarding patients’ rights and data privacy. It also contributed to supporting students and academic staff with knowledge related to future challenges in this field. The event is part of the Intelligent Medical Systems Department’s efforts to organize specialized scientific activities and promote academic discussion of emerging issues at the intersection of medicine, technology, artificial intelligence, and professional ethics. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first one university in Iraq.
