Under the theme “Empowering Graduates and Addressing Unemployment toward a Sustainable Professional Future,” Al-Mustaqbal University organized its Second Qualification and Employment Forum, under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi. The forum was organized by the Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Division, with the participation of academics, representatives of governmental institutions and the private sector, as well as university students and graduates.
The forum was held as part of the University’s commitment to enhancing graduates’ opportunities in the labor market, developing their academic and professional skills, and strengthening partnerships with governmental institutions and the private sector to support sustainable career pathways.
The forum opened with a speech by the University President, delivered on his behalf by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, in which he emphasized the University’s role in preparing graduates equipped with the knowledge and professional, leadership, and personal skills required to compete effectively in the labor market. He also highlighted the importance of expanding partnerships with governmental institutions and the private sector to provide greater opportunities for training, employment, and professional empowerment.
The forum featured a series of specialized sessions addressing key challenges and opportunities related to graduates’ professional futures. One of the sessions focused on developing administrative skills and entrepreneurship as pathways to addressing unemployment and creating employment opportunities, presented by the Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Haider Al-Dulaimi.
Another session, presented by Eng. Huda Qasim, representative of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, addressed university–ministry partnerships and aligning educational outcomes with the needs of the industrial labor market, highlighting the importance of integration between academic institutions and productive sectors.
Ms. Jinan Adel Makki, Managing Director of Akad Gate for Qualification and Employment, discussed graduates’ readiness for the labor market and the transition from academic qualification to professional empowerment, focusing on the skills required for employment and the importance of continuous training and professional development.
The forum also featured Mr. Mustafa Abbas Saber, a leading project developer in the Iraqi market, who highlighted the importance of moving from a culture of stigma to a culture of empowerment, strengthening graduates’ confidence in their abilities, and encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship, and self-employment as pathways to creating professional opportunities.
An inspiring segment of the forum featured a number of Al-Mustaqbal University graduates sharing their success stories and professional experiences, providing practical examples of how graduates can transform their academic knowledge and skills into successful career pathways and inspiring the current generation of students and graduates.
The forum concluded with the presentation of its key recommendations and outcomes by Prof. Dr. Iman Abdul Aziz, Director of the Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Division. She emphasized the importance of continuing qualification and employment programs, expanding partnerships with governmental institutions and the private sector, increasing training and employment opportunities, and strengthening the professional skills that enable students and graduates to compete effectively in the labor market.
The Second Qualification and Employment Forum reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s vision of building an integrated system that connects education with labor-market needs, moving beyond the traditional concept of preparing graduates to seek employment toward empowering them to become active partners in development, creators of opportunities, and capable of building sustainable professional futures.
