On Monday, October 5, 2026, the laboratories of the Artificial Intelligence Department at the College of Science hosted a practical session for the "Computer Architecture" course for third-year students. The session was supervised by the course instructor, Dr. Maitham Nabil Miqdad, with the assistance of Teaching Assistant Noor Hassan Obeid.
The practical session focused on hands-on application using the emu8086 simulation software, where students programmed and traced data movement within the registers of the 8086 processor. The practical work involved writing Assembly language instructions and working with general-purpose registers (such as AX, BX, CX, and DX), as well as segment registers and pointers, while tracking step-by-step changes in register values during command execution.
This practical training aims to deepen students' understanding of internal processor architecture, memory management, and temporary data storage at the hardware level. It establishes a solid engineering foundation that contributes to understanding how to optimize software performance for intelligent systems and computationally intensive applications.
