On Monday, October 5, 2026, the laboratories of the Artificial Intelligence Department at the College of Science hosted a practical session on "Natural Language Processing" (NLP) for third-year students. The session was supervised by the course instructor, Assistant Lecturer Noor Firas, with the assistance of Teaching Assistant Noor Hassan Obeid.
The practical session focused on constructing and implementing Context-Free Grammars (CFG) using Python. Students programmed and designed rules based on key linguistic components, including nouns, verbs, determiners, pronouns, and prepositions.
Students gained hands-on experience in classifying these components, validating sentence syntax, and automatically generating sentences. This training enables them to understand the linguistic structure of texts and build parsers—essential tools for developing intelligent systems and interactive language models.
