Dr. Mohammed Maytham Obaid held an interactive lecture on Monday, October 5, 2026, entitled “Scientific Impact, Impact Creation, and Research Publication” at the Technical Engineering Building of Al-Mustaqbal University. The lecture was attended by the Dean of the Technical Engineering College, Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, with the participation of all departments of the Technical Engineering College, including the Department of Aviation Engineering Technologies.
The lecture focused on the concept of scientific impact, its importance in evaluating research output, and ways of moving beyond conducting scientific research toward creating meaningful and sustainable impact. It also highlighted the importance of disseminating knowledge and communicating research findings to the scientific community to enhance their academic value and practical applications.
Interactive discussions addressed scientific research publication, appropriate approaches to increasing the visibility and reach of research output, and the researcher’s role in creating scientific impact beyond simply conducting and publishing research. These discussions aimed to foster a more effective and sustainable research culture.
The lecture also emphasized introducing students to the importance of scientific research and academic publishing throughout their university education and future careers. It sought to develop their research awareness and skills so they can benefit from them after graduation, whether by pursuing postgraduate studies, advancing their professional careers, or actively participating in scientific and research activities.
The lecture aimed to raise awareness of the importance of scientific research impact, develop researchers’ and students’ skills in publishing scientific output, and introduce approaches that contribute to increasing research visibility and maximizing its academic and societal impact. It also sought to equip students with research and scientific skills that can support their future academic and professional careers.
This lecture reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to strengthening its scientific and research environment, promoting interaction between faculty members and students, and transforming knowledge and scientific research into effective tools for serving society and developing scientific and professional competencies.
The lecture contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through developing students’ scientific and research skills; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by supporting research, innovation, and scientific impact; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through encouraging knowledge dissemination and strengthening scientific and research collaboration.
