As part of its strategic approach to expanding its academic and research presence and strengthening its scientific relations at both the Arab and international levels, Al-Mustaqbal University participated in the first day of the First Conference of the Arab Network of Research Centers, held at the National Research Centre in Cairo, Egypt. The University was represented by Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abadi Manea, Director of the Future Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications, amid broad participation from representatives of approximately ten Arab countries and more than 76 research centers.
The conference provided a specialized scientific platform bringing together leaders of research centers, experts, and representatives of international institutions concerned with scientific research, rankings, and innovation. Delegations from Iraq, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and other Arab countries participated in the conference, reflecting the growing interest in strengthening integration and cooperation among Arab research institutions and centers.
The first day featured a number of specialized scientific sessions and lectures, most notably the lecture entitled “Arab Ranking of Research Centers,” delivered by Prof. Dr. Yasser Refaat, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Planning, Governance, and Scientific Research Policies and Applications, with the participation of Dr. Mohamed El-Aisali, Vice President of Analytical Services and Data at Elsevier. The session addressed recent trends in evaluating the performance of research institutions and enhancing their presence in scientific ranking and research assessment systems.
The conference also addressed the topic of “Scientific Research and Innovation in Research Centers in the Arab Region” through a lecture delivered by Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Ibrahim, Senior Regional Director at Elsevier. The lecture discussed recent transformations in the research and innovation environment and highlighted the importance of utilizing advanced databases and scientific analytics to improve research outputs and support institutional decision-making.
Artificial intelligence also occupied a central position in the conference through the lecture “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Scientific Research and Innovation,” delivered by Dr. Ayman Aqeel, Director of Academic and Government Sector Consulting at Clarivate. The lecture explored the rapid transformations brought about by artificial intelligence technologies in scientific research methodologies, knowledge management, data analysis, and the acceleration of the scientific innovation cycle.
On the sidelines of the first day’s activities, Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation included a series of meetings and scientific discussions with a number of Arab research leaders and representatives of specialized international institutions, particularly Elsevier and Clarivate, in addition to research centers participating in the Arab Network. These discussions focused on exploring opportunities for cooperation in artificial intelligence, scientific publishing, research performance analysis, academic and research rankings, capacity building, knowledge exchange, and the development of joint research projects.
This participation reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to building sustainable research partnerships and strengthening its scientific presence beyond the local level. It also contributes to connecting the Future Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications with a broader network of Arab and international institutions and research centers, supporting the development of joint scientific projects, training programs, and institutional cooperation in research and innovation.
The University’s participation in this Arab scientific gathering demonstrates its commitment to employing artificial intelligence and modern technologies in the service of scientific research and knowledge production, while investing in high-quality research partnerships that contribute to strengthening its presence in international scientific indicators and rankings.
