Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new milestone in the field of university sustainability, securing first place among private universities in Iraq and third place nationally in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026, which included the participation of 92 Iraqi universities and colleges. The University scored 8,475 out of 10,000 points, demonstrating strong performance across the various ranking indicators and reflecting its adoption of an integrated institutional approach to implementing sustainability principles and strengthening sustainable practices across the university environment. In a notable achievement, Al-Mustaqbal University ranked first in Iraq and 23rd globally in the Water category, after achieving a full score. This result reflects the University’s commitment to efficient water resource management, rationalizing water consumption, and implementing sustainable practices in this area. The University also achieved advanced results across several key categories assessed by the ranking, including Education and Research, Waste Management, Energy and Climate Change, Governance and Digitalization, Transportation, and Infrastructure. These results demonstrate the broad scope of the University’s sustainability practices across its academic, administrative, and environmental operations. This achievement embodies Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to establishing sustainability as an integrated institutional practice that goes beyond individual initiatives to become an integral part of planning, development, research, education, and university services.
