Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ali Shakir Majdi, a meeting was held with the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs to follow up on progress in the program accreditation procedures for the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries and Biomedical Engineering. The meeting also addressed finalizing the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and completing the evidence and documentation related to its standards. The meeting followed the two departments’ advancement to the “Accreditation Plan” stage with the Iraqi Council for Accreditation of Engineering Education, after completing the application and file submission, audit, and Council review stages. Reaching this stage marks significant progress in the accreditation process. As it precedes the formation of a national evaluation team and the conduct of a field visit, completing the self-assessment report and documenting practices and outcomes are priorities in preparing the departments for evaluation. The meeting focused on reviewing the requirements for the final report and ensuring that its contents are consistent with the supporting evidence. This will help reflect actual academic performance and improvement procedures, and enhance the quality of engineering education in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
