The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, participated on September 24, 2026, in a specialized workshop organized by the Higher Education and Scientific Research Committee of the Iraqi Council of Representatives to discuss the proposed Private Higher Education Law. The workshop was attended by several committee members, presidents of public and private universities, and representatives of unions, associations, and relevant academic institutions.
The workshop aimed to discuss the provisions and articles of the proposed law and to hear academic and specialized perspectives and observations, contributing to the development of legislative provisions and addressing the requirements of private higher education institutions in Iraq.
During the workshop, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi presented a paper containing a number of academic observations and proposals concerning the provisions of the proposed law. His paper was based on academic and institutional experience and the practical realities of private higher education institutions, emphasizing the importance of strengthening academic standards, the quality of academic performance, and educational outcomes.
His contribution also addressed the importance of establishing legislative frameworks that support the development of education and scientific research and enhance integration between public and private higher education institutions, in line with institutional development, labor market requirements, and Iraq’s development needs.
The participation of the University President reflects Al-Mustaqbal University, the first university in Iraq, commitment to contributing to academic and legislative discussions concerning the development of higher education and scientific research, and to providing academic expertise and perspectives that support the advancement of education in Iraq.
