In a new achievement added to Al-Mustaqbal University’s record of excellence in sustainability and institutional performance, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the inclusion of 92 Iraqi universities and colleges in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026. Al-Mustaqbal University achieved first place among Iraqi private universities and third place among all Iraqi public and private universities. This outstanding achievement reflects the institutional approach adopted by Al-Mustaqbal University to consolidate the principles of sustainability and transform them into integrated practices encompassing academic, research, environmental, and administrative dimensions. This approach is aligned with the University’s vision of building a smart and sustainable campus and embodying its motto: “Towards a Sustainable University.” The University achieved a total score of 8,475 out of 10,000, reflecting the broad scope of its sustainability initiatives and practices, as well as the integration of its efforts in resource management, infrastructure development, the advancement of education and scientific research, and the enhancement of governance and digital transformation. Advanced Results Across Sustainability Indicators Al-Mustaqbal University demonstrated outstanding performance across several key indicators adopted by the UI GreenMetric ranking. It achieved a perfect score in the Water category, with 1,100 out of 1,100 points, equivalent to 100%, ranking first in Iraq and 23rd globally in this category. In the Education and Research category, the University ranked second in Iraq and 102nd globally, with a performance rate of 94.23%. It also ranked second in Iraq in the Waste category, achieving a performance rate of 82.35%. The University further achieved advanced results across several other categories, including Governance and Digitalization at 85.23%, Transportation at 84.56%, and Energy and Climate Change at 83.75%. These results reflect the comprehensive nature of the University’s sustainability framework and its ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability across various institutional domains.
