On Sunday, September 27, 2026, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, inaugurated the Lab Mentor smart laboratory education platform at the Biochemistry Department laboratories, College of Science. The event was attended by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi; the Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani; the Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Dr. Nasser Abdul Hassan Nasser; and the Head of Medical Laboratories, Professor Dr. Dakhel Nasser Taha. The initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing practical education and integrating advanced technologies into the laboratory environment. This initiative reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s strategic vision of becoming a smart university by adopting cutting-edge digital technologies and innovative solutions that enhance teaching and training, ensure the safe and efficient implementation of laboratory experiments, and support automation across academic, administrative, and laboratory operations. The Lab Mentor platform provides comprehensive educational and instructional content that enables students to become familiar with laboratory instruments and equipment, understand their components and functions, learn operational procedures and safety requirements, and follow step-by-step guidance for conducting practical experiments. It serves as an intelligent learning assistant for students throughout their laboratory training and practical learning journey. The platform is one of the innovative student-led initiatives developed by members of the Al-Mustaqbal Research Student Club, demonstrating students’ ability to apply scientific knowledge and modern technologies to create digital solutions that support the educational process and meet the demands of smart higher education. The launch of Lab Mentor represents a major step toward reshaping laboratory education through a more interactive and organized model that combines technology, hands-on learning, and automation. It enhances students’ proficiency in using laboratory technologies while improving their scientific and practical readiness.
