Al-Mustaqbal University participated in the grand celebration organized by the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils in Baghdad, marking the 50th anniversary of the Union’s establishment (1976–2026), under the theme “Fifty Years in the Service of Scientific Research, Innovation, and Arab Academic Cooperation.” The event was attended by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Iraq, Mr. Nizar Mohammed Saeed Aamidi, along with the Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul Hussein Al-Mousawi, the Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, Prof. Dr. Abdelmajid Benamra, as well as a number of heads of scientific research councils, academic leaders, researchers, and experts from various Arab countries. Al-Mustaqbal University was represented at this distinguished scientific occasion by the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi. The participation reflects the University’s continued presence at scientific and academic forums that bring together educational and research institutions at both the Iraqi and Arab levels, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening scientific communication and expanding academic and research cooperation. The celebration highlighted the importance of developing Arab scientific and research cooperation, strengthening integration among academic and research institutions, and keeping pace with rapid developments in science and technology, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, climate change, water and food security, health, and education. The event also emphasized the role of scientific research in supporting sustainable development and building a knowledge- and innovation-based economy. Participants stressed the importance of expanding joint research initiatives during the coming period and enhancing the exchange of expertise and knowledge among Arab scientific institutions. Such efforts contribute to advancing the scientific research ecosystem, addressing emerging developmental and scientific challenges, and benefiting from rapid developments in science, technology, and innovation. The celebration’s program included a screening of the documentary film “Fifty Years of the Journey of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils,” which highlighted key milestones in the Union’s five-decade journey and its achievements in supporting scientific research and promoting Arab academic cooperation. The event also featured the honoring of a number of academic and scientific figures in recognition of their contributions to scientific research and the advancement of joint Arab scientific cooperation. Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation in this occasion represents an extension of its commitment to expanding its academic and research network and strengthening scientific partnerships with Arab academic institutions and organizations. This approach supports the exchange of expertise and knowledge and opens new horizons for cooperation in education, scientific research, and innovation.
