Al-Mustaqbal University concluded a specialized training workshop on Erasmus+ programs and grants, organized by the European Union Delegation in Iraq in cooperation with the Department of International and Arab Organizations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The workshop brought together representatives of public and private universities across the Middle Euphrates region and was attended by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University. The third and final day of the workshop featured specialized training sessions and discussions addressing Erasmus Mundus opportunities for students and academics, key application requirements, university partnerships, and the preparation of joint Master’s program proposals, contributing to the advancement of international academic cooperation and the development of joint educational programs. The sessions also highlighted the role of universities in promoting Erasmus+ opportunities and supporting students in preparing applications. Participants discussed the main challenges facing Iraqi universities in engaging with these programs and explored practical steps to address them, strengthen institutional readiness, and develop competitive projects and proposals. During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi emphasized the importance of moving beyond awareness of Erasmus+ programs toward transforming available opportunities into effective international partnerships and implementable projects. He also highlighted the importance of utilizing the outcomes of the training to strengthen the capacities of Iraqi universities and enhance their participation in European academic and research cooperation programs. Held over three days, the workshop included a range of specialized training and dialogue sessions aimed at developing universities’ capacities to prepare international projects and proposals, while strengthening academic partnerships and cooperation between Iraqi and European universities. Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among private universities in Iraq.
