Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in a specialized workshop organized by the Higher Education and Scientific Research Committee of the Iraqi Council of Representatives to discuss the proposed Private Higher Education Law, with the participation of committee members, presidents of public and private universities, and representatives of academic and professional unions, associations, and relevant specialized institutions. The workshop formed part of the Committee’s ongoing consultations on the proposed legislation, aimed at reviewing academic and professional perspectives before proceeding with the subsequent legislative procedures. During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi presented a working paper containing a number of academic and analytical observations and proposals concerning several articles and provisions of the proposed law, drawing on institutional and academic experience as well as practical perspectives from private higher education institutions. His contribution emphasized the importance of ensuring that legislative provisions take into account the nature of higher education institutions and the requirements for their development, in a manner that strengthens academic standards, the quality of academic performance, and the quality of educational outcomes, while addressing the requirements of the next stage and the needs of Iraq’s higher education sector.
