A designer’s creative work represents the outcome of intellectual and artistic effort that deserves legal protection, as it embodies original ideas, visual expressions, and creative contributions that may have both artistic and economic value. Intellectual property protection laws provide designers with a range of rights aimed at safeguarding their works against unauthorized copying, exploitation, or use, while protecting their right to be recognized as the creator and to benefit from the economic value of their work in accordance with the law. These rights include moral rights associated with the designer’s name and attribution of the work, as well as economic rights related to the exploitation, licensing, or transfer of the creative work within the applicable legal framework. Such protection has become increasingly important with the widespread use of digital design and online publishing, which have made creative works easier to reproduce, distribute, and reuse, creating new forms of potential infringement. Therefore, designers should pay attention to documenting their works, preserving evidence of ownership and creation dates, and developing their legal awareness. Effective protection of intellectual property rights also contributes to encouraging innovation, motivating designers to produce new creative works, and strengthening the role of design as an artistic and economic activity that contributes to cultural development and the creative industries.
