Participated the Dean of the Technical Engineering College at Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, in the activities of the Fourth International Scientific Conference on Modern Technologies in Oil and Gas Industries, held on Tuesday, September 23, 2026, at the Chemical Engineering College of the University of Technology, in cooperation and partnership with the Midland Refineries Company. The conference witnessed active participation by the Al-Mustaqbal University delegation, headed by the deans and heads of specialized departments, to discuss the latest technologies and advanced scientific research in the petroleum industries and sustainable energy. The conference also highlighted the Karbala Refinery, which has a crude oil processing capacity of 140,000 barrels per day and produces liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gasoline, kerosene, diesel, fuel oil, asphalt, and sulfur. The refinery complies with Euro 5 environmental standards and includes advanced units such as Vacuum Gas Oil (VGO) treatment, Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC), and Poly Naphtha units, while gasoline production has been increased to 35% of total daily output. In recognition of his scientific and leadership role and his distinguished contribution to the success of the conference, Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd was honored with the Excellence Shield. Al-Mustaqbal University and its participating delegation were also honored with shields and certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contributions to advancing scientific research and technological development. This participation aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, reinforcing the role of Al-Mustaqbal University, the first among private universities in Iraq, in supporting knowledge, innovation, and the energy and industrial sectors.
