Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, chaired the first meeting of the University Council for the 2026–2027 academic year, in the presence of the esteemed members of the Council, including the University Assistant Presidents, Deans, and Heads of Departments. The meeting addressed a number of key academic, administrative, and organizational files included in the Council’s agenda, while also setting priorities and plans for the successful launch of the new academic year. At the beginning of the meeting, the University President extended his warmest greetings and congratulations to the faculty members, teaching staff, and students on the occasion of the new academic year, wishing everyone a year filled with academic success, excellence, and achievement. The President also congratulated the students and the Student Activities Division on achieving first place in Iraq among private universities and colleges in the field of student activities, praising this significant achievement as a reflection of the University’s excellence across various student activities and initiatives. Key Academic and Organizational Directives The meeting emphasized a number of priorities aimed at strengthening the quality of the educational process and improving academic and administrative performance, including: 1. Regularity of Academic Activities and Student Engagement Ensuring the regular commencement of academic activities from the first day of the academic year, accelerating the announcement of class schedules, activating student activities, and supporting students’ talents and creative abilities. 2. Student-Centered Education and the Learning Environment Strengthening the role of students as the central focus of the educational process, preparing them to meet labor market requirements, fostering awareness and a sense of belonging and social responsibility, and enhancing the University’s role in serving the community. 3. Innovation, Digital Transformation, and Artificial Intelligence Supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, utilizing modern technologies, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation to enhance educational and administrative processes, and expanding academic and research partnerships at both the national and international levels. Key Agenda Items Discussed by the University Council The Council discussed a number of important issues, most notably: 1. Academic Calendar and Preparations for the New Academic Year Reviewing and approving the academic calendar and weekly schedules, with emphasis on their timely announcement. Academic activities are scheduled to commence on Sunday, September 20, 2026. 2. Second-Round Examinations and Results Following up on the second-round examinations and emphasizing the completion of marking, auditing, and result-announcement procedures in accordance with the approved timelines. 3. Implementation of the SIS System and E-Governance Emphasizing the implementation of the SIS system and the e-governance framework approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with organizing urgent training workshops to familiarize students and teaching staff with the system. The Council also emphasized compliance with the registration requirements, with students who fail to register in the system being considered absent in accordance with the approved regulations. 4. Organization of Tuition Fee Payments Discussing the organization of tuition fee payments into four installments, with the first installment representing 25% of the annual tuition fee, payable from September 15 to September 30, 2026, with registration restrictions applied to students who fail to meet the payment requirements in accordance with the applicable regulations. 5. Admission Requirements and Tuition Fees Reviewing admission scores and regulations in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and approving the tuition fees for the 2026–2027 academic year. 6. Internationalization, Postgraduate Studies, and International Partnerships Reviewing the student training experience at the University of the West of England (UWE), following up on postgraduate studies, and reviewing recent international visits and activities, while working to expand international academic and research partnerships and strengthen the University’s global academic presence. 7. College Councils, Ministerial Directives, and Legal Affairs Reviewing the minutes of the College Councils, following up on ministerial correspondence and directives, and discussing relevant legal and administrative matters.
