President of Al-Mustaqbal University Chairs the First University Council Meeting for the 2026–2027 Academic Year and Approves an Integrated Action Plan
Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, chaired the first meeting of the University Council for the new academic year 2026–2027, in the presence of the esteemed Council members, including the University’s assistants, deans, and heads of departments.
At the beginning of the meeting, the University President extended his warmest welcome and congratulations to the professors, teaching staff, and students on the commencement of the new academic year, wishing everyone a year filled with academic excellence, success, and achievement.
The meeting also opened with congratulations to the participating students and the Student Activities Division for achieving **first place in Iraq among private universities and colleges**, commending this significant accomplishment, which reflects the University’s excellence across various activities.
The meeting further emphasized a set of academic and organizational directives issued by the University Presidency:
1. **Regularity of Academic Studies and Activities:** Ensuring the regular commencement of classes from the first day, promptly announcing academic schedules, activating student activities, and supporting students’ talents.
2. **Student-Centered Education and the Learning Environment:** Positioning students at the heart of the educational process, preparing them to meet labor market requirements, fostering awareness and a sense of belonging, and strengthening the University’s role in serving the community.
3. **Innovation and Technological Development:** Enhancing innovation and entrepreneurship, implementing digital transformation and artificial intelligence to advance education, and expanding international academic and research partnerships.
The Council then discussed the main agenda items and the following topics:
1. **Academic Calendar and Preparations for the New Academic Year:** Approving the academic calendar and weekly schedules and ensuring their prompt announcement, with classes commencing on **Sunday, September 20, 2026**.
2. **Second-Round Examinations and Results:** Discussing the announcement of the second-round examination results.
3. **SIS and E-Governance:** Emphasizing the implementation of the **Student Information System (SIS)** and the electronic governance system approved by the Ministry, along with organizing urgent workshops. Students will be considered absent in the event that they fail to register in the system.
4. **Tuition Fee Payments:** Organizing tuition payments in four installments, with the first installment amounting to **25% of the annual tuition fee**, payable from **September 15 to September 30**, with registration withheld for students who fail to meet the payment requirements.
5. **Admission Rates and Regulations:** Discussing admission rates and admission regulations outlined in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s official admission guide, and approving the tuition fees for the **2026–2027 academic year**.
6. **Internationalization and Postgraduate Studies:** Commending the student training experience at the **University of the West of England (UWE)**, following up on postgraduate studies and recent international visits, and expanding international academic and research partnerships.
7. **College Councils and Ministerial Directives:** Reviewing the minutes of college council meetings, following up on incoming ministerial correspondence and directives, and addressing legal affairs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi called upon all college deanships and academic and administrative staff to intensify their efforts and work in a spirit of teamwork, drawing inspiration from the exceptional achievements accomplished during the previous academic year as a foundation and motivation for greater success.
