President of Al-Mustaqbal University Meets Director General of Middle Euphrates Environment to Discuss Environmental and Climate Partnerships

Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, received Engineer Makki Hadi Imran Al-Shammari, Director General of the Directorate for the Protection and Improvement of the Environment in the Middle Euphrates Region, accompanied by a representative of the Ministry of Environment and a representative of environmental organizations, at the University Presidency. The meeting was held as part of the university’s efforts to strengthen national partnerships, support joint initiatives addressing climate change, and promote environmental sustainability. The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation between Al-Mustaqbal University, governmental and regulatory institutions, and environmental organizations, with the aim of utilizing the university’s scientific and research capabilities to support environmental and climate-related issues. The participants also discussed mechanisms for implementing field-based and awareness-raising initiatives that contribute to protecting the local environment and increasing community awareness of sustainability and the importance of preserving natural resources. Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi affirmed Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to expanding cooperation with national institutions and organizations concerned with environmental affairs and creating opportunities for initiatives that contribute to developing scientific and practical solutions to environmental challenges. He highlighted the importance of integrating the roles of academic institutions, executive bodies, and community organizations to achieve sustainable outcomes that serve both the environment and society. The University President also emphasized the importance of activating institutional partnerships within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, in a manner that strengthens integration between academic expertise and executive capabilities and supports programs and initiatives aimed at addressing the impacts of climate change and promoting sustainability. The visiting delegation, for its part, praised Al-Mustaqbal University’s role in supporting environmental initiatives and utilizing scientific research to address community issues, stressing the importance of continued coordination and joint cooperation to implement high-quality programs with a tangible impact on environmental protection and climate awareness. The meeting reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to strengthening its academic and community role in supporting environmental and sustainability issues and enhancing national partnerships that bring together academic, governmental, and community institutions within an integrated vision for addressing environmental challenges and achieving sustainable development. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first one university in Iraq.
