Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in the IAU-EAIE Internationalisation Leadership Dialogue, held at The Sir Jim McDonald Technology and Innovation Centre at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, United Kingdom, on 8 September 2026. The participation came at the invitation of the International Association of Universities (IAU) and the European Association for International Education (EAIE), alongside a distinguished group of university presidents and higher education leaders from around the world. The dialogue focused on key trends and contemporary strategies in the internationalisation of higher education, as well as strengthening international academic and research collaboration. The discussions addressed the current global challenges facing higher education institutions, in addition to strategies for building sustainable and balanced international university partnerships, developing joint academic programmes, strengthening research cooperation, and examining global trends in international student mobility and recruitment. The event also featured extensive discussions on rethinking internationalisation in higher education, integrating internationalisation into curricula, the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in advancing education and academic mobility, and virtual exchange as a modern and sustainable approach to strengthening collaboration among universities. The President of Al-Mustaqbal University also held a number of bilateral meetings with leaders and representatives of participating academic institutions, including a meeting with Dr. Hilligje van't Land, Secretary General of the International Association of Universities (IAU). The meeting explored prospects for future academic and research collaboration and the development of international partnerships. A commemorative gift reflecting the authenticity of Iraqi heritage and civilisation was also presented. This participation reflects Al-Mustaqbal University's commitment to strengthening its international presence, expanding its network of academic and research partnerships, and keeping pace with global developments in higher education leadership and management, thereby supporting its academic mission and enhancing its engagement with international university experiences and expertise.
