Al-Mustaqbal University explored, on September 2, 2026, during a delegation visit to the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, prospects for academic and research cooperation and the launch of a joint master’s program in renewable energy and sustainability. The delegation was led by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and included Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in the United Kingdom, along with several university deans, assistant deans, and representatives, in the presence of a number of officials and academics from the University of Reading. The discussions addressed the development of joint research projects, scientific publications, the exchange of academic staff, researchers, and postgraduate students, as well as the development of joint academic programs and student exchange programs. They also covered cooperation in renewable energy, sustainability, and climate change, in addition to reviewing Al-Mustaqbal University’s advanced academic and research capabilities and infrastructure. The visit also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions to strengthen scientific, cultural, and knowledge-based cooperation and provide opportunities for training and participation in international summer schools and advanced courses. This collaboration contributes to improving the quality of education and scientific research and enhancing the university’s international academic presence. This cooperation aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 13: Climate Action, reflecting Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to expanding its partnerships with prestigious international academic institutions. Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among private universities in Iraq.
