Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, conducted an extensive field visit to the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), exploring the latest scientific research and innovative technologies developed by postgraduate students and researchers in collaboration with leading global companies and institutions. The visit included several key research areas and advanced technologies: 1. Healthcare Robotics and Smart Living: The visit included the Personalised Assisted Living Studio, where the President explored advanced applications of assistive robotics, home-care technologies, and service robots designed to support the healthcare sector and enhance the quality of life of older adults. 2. Autonomous Driving Systems and Intelligent Vehicles: He reviewed specialised research projects focused on the development of autonomous vehicle technologies and intelligent systems, including projects such as VENTURER, implemented in partnership with major industrial companies. 3. Advanced Manufacturing and Robotic Arms: The tour also covered cutting-edge research in hybrid additive manufacturing and smart manufacturing using large-scale industrial robotic arms, including KUKA robots. 4. Human-Robot Interaction and Artificial Intelligence Research: The visit featured field-based research conducted by postgraduate students and institutional partners on quadruped robots and interactive humanoid robots, including Pepper and PAL robots, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence into sensing, decision-making, and autonomous movement. During the tour, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University emphasised the importance of strengthening engagement with leading international research centres such as BRL to facilitate knowledge transfer, localise advanced technologies, and establish a world-class research environment for postgraduate students and researchers at Al-Mustaqbal University.
