Al-Mustaqbal University President and Dean of the Technical Engineering College Explore Advanced Robotics and AI Technologies in Bristol

Explored Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, accompanied by Assistant Professor Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the Technical Engineering College, the latest scientific research and advanced technologies during a field visit to the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) in the United Kingdom on 4 September 2026. The visit included an overview of the latest research projects and innovative applications in assistive robotics and healthcare, autonomous vehicles, intelligent systems, advanced manufacturing, and artificial intelligence, as well as projects undertaken by postgraduate students and researchers in collaboration with international institutions and companies. The University President and the Dean of the Technical Engineering College also explored applications of robotics in healthcare and elderly care, intelligent vehicle technologies, and the use of industrial robotic arms in smart manufacturing. They further reviewed research on quadruped robots and interactive humanoid robots, with particular attention to the integration of artificial intelligence into sensing, autonomous movement, and interaction with the surrounding environment. During the visit, the University President emphasized the importance of engaging with leading international research centres and benefiting from their expertise in knowledge transfer and the localisation of advanced technologies. Such engagement contributes to strengthening the research environment and developing the skills of students and researchers at the Technical Engineering College in modern engineering and technological fields. The visit reflects the ongoing commitment of Al-Mustaqbal University, ranked first among private universities in Iraq, to strengthening international academic and research collaboration, supporting innovation and advanced technology applications, and equipping its students with the knowledge and skills needed to keep pace with global developments. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
