The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, visited the prestigious University of Reading in the United Kingdom, accompanied by the Iraqi Cultural Counselor in the United Kingdom, Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, and the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs of the College of Engineering Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University, Assistant Professor Dr. Amin Kitab, to strengthen international academic and research cooperation. The Iraqi delegation was received by representatives of the University of Reading, including Claire Ballard, Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa for International Student Recruitment; Professor Emmanuel Eissa, Head of the School of the Built Environment; and Professor Eirini D. Tzortzopoulou, Professor of Construction Engineering and Management. The two sides held extensive discussions on prospects for scientific cooperation, particularly the launch of a joint Master’s program in the fields of renewable energy and sustainability. Assistant Professor Dr. Amin Kitab delivered a detailed presentation outlining the vision of Al-Mustaqbal University and the College of Engineering Technologies, highlighting the university’s academic and research capabilities and advanced infrastructure, particularly in renewable energy and climate change. He also highlighted the global excellence achieved by Al-Mustaqbal University through its first-place global ranking in Sustainable Development Goal 7, which focuses on Affordable and Clean Energy. This achievement received widespread praise from Professor Emmanuel Eissa. The visit culminated in the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties. The agreement included key provisions covering the promotion of joint research projects and scientific publications, support for academic exchange programs for faculty members and postgraduate students, facilitating the admission of qualified students from Al-Mustaqbal University to undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the University of Reading, as well as the development of educational programs and the exchange of resources and publications.
