A delegation of students from Al-Mustaqbal University has departed from Babil Governorate for the United Kingdom to participate in a summer training program aimed at developing skills in Artificial Intelligence at the University of the West of England – Bristol (UWE Bristol). The program comes as part of the university’s vision, represented by its President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, to activate academic partnerships with prestigious international universities, promote academic mobility for students and faculty members, and support the internationalization of higher education in Iraq.
The program represents one of the outcomes of the university’s commitment to building effective international partnerships that provide its students with high-quality educational and training opportunities in global academic environments. This contributes to developing their scientific and technical skills and enhancing their capabilities in future-oriented fields, particularly Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies.
The current phase of the program involves a group of students from the College of Engineering Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University. It includes academic and practical training sessions and activities designed to develop students’ skills in Artificial Intelligence and digital transformation, familiarize them with modern academic experiences and practices at British universities, and provide them with opportunities to engage with the international university environment.
Al-Mustaqbal University emphasizes that this experience will not be limited to students of the College of Engineering Technologies. Opportunities will subsequently be made available to students from various colleges and academic disciplines through subsequent training groups and diverse international academic programs, ensuring that the pool of beneficiaries of academic mobility and international training opportunities continues to expand.
This initiative also forms part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s active participation in the Iraqi–British Academic Bridge Initiative, previously launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the aim of strengthening networking and cooperation between Iraqi and British universities and opening new avenues for collaboration in education, scientific research, and the exchange of expertise.
This step reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s vision of moving international partnerships beyond the framework of agreements toward tangible academic experiences that benefit students and faculty members, enhance the quality of education, advance skills, and strengthen the university’s presence in the global higher education landscape. It reaffirms that the university’s ambitions extend beyond borders toward a more open, competitive, and globally oriented Iraqi education.
