Al-Mustaqbal University Strengthens Its Global Leadership Through a Major Leap in Research Excellence and Publication Quality in 2026

In a new academic achievement reflecting its growing presence in the global research landscape, Al-Mustaqbal University has made significant progress in scientific research and academic publication indicators for 2026, according to the latest data from the global Scopus database. This achievement reaffirms the University’s continued commitment to enhancing the quality of its scientific output and increasing its impact within the international academic community. According to the data, the total number of the University’s research papers indexed in Scopus has reached 6,701, with 535 new publications added during the first half of 2026 alone. The University’s h-index has also increased to 94, reflecting the growing scientific impact and visibility of its research across various disciplines. The progress extends beyond the volume of research output to the quality of scientific publications and the ranking of journals in which the University’s research is published. Analytical data for publications classified during the first half of 2026 indicate the following distribution: Q1: 45.0% Q2: 24.5% Q3: 21.2% Q4: 9.3% Accordingly, publications in the top two quartiles, Q1 and Q2, accounted for 69.5% of the classified research output, while publications across Q1–Q3 reached 90.7%. These figures demonstrate a clear strategic orientation toward publishing in high-impact and highly ranked scientific journals according to international research indicators. These achievements are further supported by an expanding research network comprising 1,034 authors and researchers affiliated with Al-Mustaqbal University, reflecting the growing research activity, expanding researcher base, and increasing contribution to international knowledge production and exchange. In this context, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, affirmed that these results represent the direct outcome of the continuous efforts of the University’s academic and research staff, as well as the supportive academic environment established to promote scientific research, innovation, and international collaboration and partnerships. He emphasized that the University continues to implement its strategic vision aimed at consolidating its academic and research standing at both regional and international levels and advancing the quality of scientific publishing in alignment with global standards, while strengthening the University’s contribution to community service and national development priorities. These indicators confirm that Al-Mustaqbal University is continuing to build a strong and expanding research presence—one that focuses not only on increasing scientific output, but equally on research quality, scientific impact, publication standards, and the expansion of international research collaboration networks, further strengthening its position among Iraqi academic institutions with an advanced presence in global research indicators.
