Received by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, were members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr. Habib Al-Halawi and Professor Dr. Hassan Al-Masoudi, a member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, as part of discussions on ways to develop the higher education sector and strengthen academic and scientific standards across Iraqi higher education institutions.
The meeting addressed a number of strategic issues related to the development of the higher education system, enhancing the quality of academic programs and services, and strengthening the local and international standing of private higher education institutions in Iraq. The meeting also reviewed Al-Mustaqbal University’s experience and its distinguished academic presence through twinning and academic hosting programs, as well as partnerships with reputable international universities.
For his part, Dr. Habib Al-Halawi affirmed that Babil Governorate takes pride in Al-Mustaqbal University as a distinguished scientific and academic institution. He commended its role in serving the community and contributing to the Governorate’s economic and social development. He noted that the university provides employment opportunities for more than 2,000 citizens from the Governorate, representing diverse age groups and social backgrounds, thereby contributing to reducing unemployment and supporting sustainable development pathways.
Professor Dr. Hassan Al-Masoudi, a member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, emphasized the importance of strengthening the quality and academic integrity of higher education across both public and private sectors. He noted that the results achieved by Al-Mustaqbal University, with pass rates exceeding 90% in the evaluative examinations for most academic subjects, reflect its high academic standards and the quality of its educational outcomes.
Al-Masoudi also praised the university’s twinning, academic hosting, and international partnership programs, highlighting their effective role in promoting academic openness, facilitating the exchange of expertise and knowledge, and advancing the quality of university education in alignment with international academic standards.
The visit comes within the framework of ongoing communication between Al-Mustaqbal University and legislative and executive institutions, reinforcing joint cooperation in support of higher education. It also reflects the university’s commitment to continuously developing its academic and infrastructure systems, consolidating its position as an active scientific institution serving the community, and contributing to building a more sustainable educational and economic future for Iraq.
