In a distinguished achievement reflecting the growing presence of Iraqi academia on the international stage, the European Union officially announced that Al-Mustaqbal University has been awarded funding for a research and educational project under the Jean Monnet Actions of the Erasmus+ Programme. This achievement represents a significant milestone, as it marks the first time an Iraqi university has secured this major European grant and received 100% direct funding from the European grant to implement its academic project entitled: “One Health in EU Policy: Implications for Medical and Health Practice” This achievement came after more than four years of dedicated efforts and continuous follow-up, during which Iraqi universities witnessed a qualitative development in international cooperation, beginning with exploring Erasmus programmes and establishing specialized academic and administrative units under the name “Erasmus” within educational institutions, and progressing towards international competition and securing European funding. On this occasion, we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and express our deep gratitude for the exceptional and continuous efforts of: Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul-Dhad, Deputy Minister for Research and Development. Prof. Dr. Hazem Baqir Taher, Director General of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations. Dr. Muwaffaq Sahet, Director General of International Organizations. Their unlimited support and sponsorship of scientific workshops and intensive training courses played a major role in building academic capacities and achieving this remarkable accomplishment, which raises the name of Iraq high on the international stage. In conclusion, this historic achievement in winning the Jean Monnet grant represents a strategic milestone in the journey of Al-Mustaqbal University, reaffirming the ability of Iraqi educational institutions to engage with international academic forums and compete with competence and distinction.
